Dr. Gorny recently joined the staff at Bayview Optical and looks forward to meeting you and providing all your family's eye care needs, from routine annual eye examinations to complex contact lens fittings. She brings 15+ years of experience in the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of ocular diseases to our practice. In addition, she works closely with local ophthalmologists and has expertise in the pre- and post-operative care of LASIK and cataract procedures.

Friendly, outgoing, and thorough, Dr. Gorny's caring approach and good natured demeanor puts patients at ease. Born in Fresno, California, Susan grew up in the city but spent weekends at her family's ranch in the Sierra Nevada Foothills.

Dr. Gorny graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry in 1998. She fell in love with the Pacific Northwest while completing a Residency Program in Ocular Disease and Hospital-based Optometry at the American Lake VA Hospital, and has lived in Tacoma ever since.

Dr. Gorny is certified in the use of both Diagnostic and Therapeutic drugs for the diagnosis and treatment of eye health problems. She is continually educating herself and has completed multiple courses in ocular disease, glaucoma and contact lens specialty applications. Dr. Gorny has dedicated her professional career to vision correction and contact lens fitting, as well as diagnosing and treating eye health problems.

Dr. Gorny is Past President of both the Pierce County and Kitsap County Optometric Societies, previous Webmaster for the Optometric Physicians of Washington, and a member in good standing of the American Optometric Association. In her free time, she enjoys going to the YMCA, spending time with her pets, reading, jewelry making, and knitting.
